DMACC Scholarships

 

DMACC Foundation

Students seeking tuition assistance can apply online for scholarships funded by donations to the DMACC Foundation. Minimum for most awards is a 2.0 GPA and completion of six DMACC credits during the award term. Application deadlines vary throughout the year.

 

 

Mark Pearson FFA Leadership Scholarship

DMACC, along with the family of former TV and radio broadcaster Mark Pearson, with support from a number of donors offers a full-tuition scholarship to qualifying Iowa FFA Chapter Presidents who attend DMACC. Recipients can choose any of DMACC’s 160+ majors.

 

 

DMACC Honors Program

DMACC awards eligible Iowa high school valedictorians full tuition for four semesters plus a $500 annual book stipend. In addition, full-time students who are accepted into the Honors Program at DMACC are eligible to receive the Honors Program Tuition Award, an award that pays for up to 20 credits of Honors coursework at DMACC. Students may apply for the Valedictorian Scholarship and for admission into the Honors Program here.

 

Honors Program students enrolled full time are eligible to receive the Honors Program Tuition Award, paying for up to 20 credits of honors college coursework at DMACC.

Allied Van Lines Scholarship

  • ​Eligibility criteria: S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and  enrolled (or enrolling) as full time student of accredited college/university within the United States for completion of undergraduate degree in Logistics or equivalent field.

 

 

American Board of Funeral Service Education Scholarship

Annual Deadline: March 1st or September 1st

  • Have completed at least one semester (or quarter) of study in a program in funeral service or mortuary science education accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education. Students in coordinated programs are only eligible for an award during the period of attendance at the American Board accredited institution.
  • Have at least one term or semester remaining in his/her program which will commence after the award date (April or September) in order to be considered for a full award. Students with less than a full term of study remaining will be considered for partial awards.
  • Complete all forms required by the Scholarship Committee of the American Board of Funeral Service Education and submit them prior to the above deadline dates. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered by the committee.
  • Be a citizen of the United States.

Scholarships available:

  • Branstad-Reynolds Agriculture Scholarship: Must currently be an undergraduate attending an Iowa community college, college or university and pursuing a degree in the field of agriculture.  Applicant must have a strong background in 4-H and/or FFA and demonstrate leadership while being involved in activities.  Preference will be given to applicant who shows a strong desire to remain active in agriculture.
  • Iowa State Fair FFA Blue and Gold Gilt Sale Scholarship: Must have exhibited breeding swine at the Iowa State Fair FFA Swine Show at least once during their FFA membership and in a year prior to applying for the scholarship.  Applicant must be an undergraduate in Agriculture or agriculture related field at any Iowa university or community college.  Must have a strong background in FFA leadership and show a strong desire to remain active in agriculture after graduation.  Applicants are eligible to apply every year they meet the requirements; however preference will be given to those who have not received a scholarship in the past.

You need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from any time after January 1. See if you are eligible for the following grants

The DMACC Foundation scholarship application is completed online. There is a section for personal, academic, and financial information, as well as an essay question.

 

A copy (unofficial is accepted) of your most recent transcript must be attached to your online application or turned into the Financial Aid Office, Attn: Sue Rardin, by the application deadline.

 

Once you have electronically submitted your online application and provided your transcripts, the process is complete.  Applicants are notified four to five weeks after the scholarship deadline if they earned a scholarship award.

 

Notifications are sent by email. Paper applications are not accepted. All students must apply through the online DMACC Foundation scholarship application.

 

 

Clarification of the DMACC Scholarship

An application through the DMACC Foundation Scholarship program does not take the place of a DMACC Financial Aid application. For information about financial aid, speak with the DMACC Financial Aid Office at 515-964-6282.

 

 

Work-Study Program

Federal college work study gives eligible students an opportunity to work an on campus job while attending DMACC. (See financial aid if you are unsure of your eligibility.) Your award letter will state the maximum amount of money you are eligible to earn.

 

Work study is an optional program in which students become employees of Des Moines Area Community College. Candidates must pass a background check and attend an informal interview.

 

All jobs pay $8.25/hour and range from 10-15 hours a week on average. Students will receive a paycheck twice a month and income earned is taxable.
